Sarah Palin – Is She Born For Comedy?
Ever since her arrival on the political scene seven weeks ago, many feel that Sarah Palin is indeed born for comedy. But after her appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 19th, I think it’s fair to say that she has achieved a new kind of celebrity status.
The cold opening with Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and and SNL’s Executive producer Lorne Michaels provided less laughs than the rap sequence by Amy Poehler that completely poked fun at the vice-presidential candidate. I have included both videos below for those of you who missed them.
Jokes aside, I think it’s great that the Republicans are showing their sense of humor and appealing to Americans in a language that most of us appreciate. Whether it’s McCain’s humorous speech at the Al Smith fundraiser last week, his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman last Friday or all the comedy that has ensued from Joe the Plumber, it is refreshing to see the seriousness of the campaign in a new light, something that is badly needed in the days of this battered economy and just two weeks until the election.
